Obsolete Elegance is a wild performance blending humour, metamorphosis and strange creatures. In it, four women experiment with surrealist costumes and invent a new world from the misshapen, the broken and the torn. Combining acrobatic dance, rope work, physical comedy and visual effects, they deliver a furious and poetic journey on the edge of reality.
The company Humo y Polvo(Smoke and Dust in English) was founded in 2022 following a meeting between Martina Calvo from Chile and Morgane Maret from Switzerland, after they had spent three years training together at ESAC (Brussels). Their shared interest in acro-dance and the visual arts led them to explore and question things together, and this marked the beginning of their first duet: J’ai rêvé que j’avais des dents velues. They create with sensitivity and strength, driven by a desire to challenge society’s preconceived notions about women. Las Corpawas formed in 2019 when aerial acrobat Lorena Di Bello and acro-dancer Martina Calvo met at ESAC (Brussels). United by their artistic vision and friendship, they began creating captivating performances and producing events such as circus cabarets, themed evenings and a circus gathering in Sicily called the Let it Flow meeting. This pivotal moment sparked a journey of creativity and exploration, propelling them to new heights in their productions.
