In Exhibit A, Sihame Haddioui weaves together family history and broader history, moving from the personal to the political. Through the process of writing live on stage, she sheds light on the mechanisms of oppression that are ingrained in her body and those of her family: capitalism, colonization, and patriarchy. With her collected evidence, the performance takes the form of a lighthearted trial—at once tender, direct, and incisive—that brings to the forefront the cultural, systemic, and structural pressures weighing on marginalized identities.
