For several years, Le Théâtre de Vidy and Le Festival de la Cité have shared a joint warehouse in the Vallon (Rue de l'Industrie 10), dedicated to storing technical and scenographic equipment: electrical equipment, furniture, theatre props, stage elements, signage, and more.
Faced with ever-increasing demand for loans, the two institutions join forces to launch Le Magasin du Vallon in March 2026, a mutualisation project aimed at structuring and facilitating the loan of these resources for the benefit of cultural professionals, especially in the performing arts and festivals.
Le Magasin du Vallon is designed as a three-year pilot project, which will evolve according to the needs and feedback of its users. This pilot project is supported by the Canton of Vaud through the public utility fund (FUP*) and the city of Lausanne through the sustainable development fund.
*The Public Utility Fund (in French, le Fond d'Utilité Publique FUP) aims to provide financial support for public utility projects, particularly in the cultural, heritage, social and sporting fields.
